Take our simple test to check your home's water pressure
Let’s check if you have an issue
Run a shower and run a tap at the same time. Does the water pressure drop? If so move to step one.
Step one
Ensure all taps are off and nothing else in your home, such as the washing machine, is using water.
Step two
Take a 1-litre jug and place it under your cold tap, then fully open the tap.
Step three
Time how many seconds it takes to fill the jug up to the litre mark with water at full pressure.
Step four
If it fills in under six seconds, your water pressure is acceptable.
Step five
If it takes longer than six seconds, you have a low water flow rate. The ideal flow rate is 10 litres per minute.
